Surface functionalization of thermoset composite for infrared hybrid welding

چکیده
Abstract Fusion assembly is a highly promising technique for joining thermoplastic composite to thermoset composites, enabling the use of both most affordable material and process each substructure. However, some major challenges need be addressed such as functionalizing surface through co-curing with an appropriate interlayer or realizing fast robust welding that meets all quality mechanical requirements. In this paper, we investigated potential polyetheretherketone (PEEK) its amorphous (PEEK A) semicristalline SC) states materials, co-cured onto composites. A preparation involving atmospheric plasma demonstrated PEEK state materials can used favorable adhesion properties. The influence treatment on properties morphology was also experimentally characterized.
